We would first arrange an initial meeting where you would have the opportunity to share the issues concerning you and for us to decide together if counselling or psychotherapy is right for you. I make every effort to provide you with a comfortable, confidential environment to help you relax and feel safe. There will be time for you to ask any questions of me when I will answer any queries you may have.

Arrangements would then be made for us to meet on a regular basis, usually at the same time each week

My theoretical approach

I work using person-centred and psychodynamic principles and sometimes include a solution focussed approach. I work intuitively and pull from the best of these in a way that best suits each individual client and their needs. I believe that at our deepest level everyone has the desire and capacity to fulfil their own true potential, but this can sometimes become blocked. I believe that we all have within us a motivating force for positive change and growth. I view life as a journey into becoming who we truly are, and my role as counsellor to be companion and facilitator for growth.

The relationship that develops between us is an important part of the process. Together we will work in a way that enables us to discover any blocks to being your true self that may exist, and work with them using your own inner strengths towards a place where they are no longer a hindrance to your growth. You may then be more able to make the choices and changes necessary to live and create a more satisfying life with meaningful and fulfilling relationships with others.

Confidentiality

Everything discussed is kept strictly confidential. There may be an exception to this if I had cause for real concern that you might do serious harm to yourself or someone else.

Code of ethics

As an accredited and registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I am bound by it code of ethics and subject to its complaints procedures.

My fees

My fees are £45 to £50 per session.

This may be negotiable according to your financial circumstances.
